National Association for Lay Ministry NALM was formally established in 1981 by a group of lay people, vowed religious, and clergy who began meeting annually in 1976. Their initial purpose was to share their expertise and to support each other in the common goal of establishing and improving programs of lay ministry formation throughout the United States
